Alder
Alnus Glutinosa

This is in the category of a medium tree/shrub. It has a dark colour. Purple catkins appear in the autumn and look like small fir-cones.

It prefers sun to partial shade. Good for a moist to wet area. It is usually found growing in moist situations and woodland.
