Clustered Bellflower
Campanula Glomerate
From the family Campanulaceae, any plant listed under Campanula refers to a bell shape or bell-shaped flowers, meaning 'little bell'. Glomerate refers to clustered. This perennial grows to 6 to 12 inches (15-30 cm) in height, with blue-lavender to deep purple flowers when it blooms mid to late summer, and on occasion even into early Autumn. Its colour has been described as intense. The cluster of flowers can appear as one giant bloom from a distance. It may develop more with age and can be a little invasive so choose a spot with care. However, it is often described as 'simply gorgeous'. It prefers a sunny spot though may cope well with partial shade.
