Hedgerow Cranesbill
Geranium Pyrenaicum

Geranium derives from the Greek work 'geranos'. It is a reference to the shape of the fruit or 'crane'. Pyrenaicum means either from or 'of' the pyrenees.

This plant is a perennial that grows approximately from 12 to 18 inches in height. It produces richly coloured flowers, in tones of violet, purple or magenta. The blooms appear anytime from June, sometimes into late summer.

Preferring sun to partial shade, it can be found growing along roadsides and in the banks of hedgerows.
