Viola means Violet.

This variety grows to approximately 8 inches. It flowers from March into May, with blue-violet-purple flowers. It likes some partial to light shade and is more commonly found in hedgerows and in woodland. It is the food plant of some butterflies. Also see: Dog Violet.
