Tall Blue Sage
Salvia Azurea

The word Salvia is a reference to healing, a helping plant, though not to be confused with the culinary sage. Azurea means sky blue in colour.

This perennial can grow between 4 to 6 feet in height. It has a tall, delicate appearance. The flowers are a mid to sky (Azure) blue in colour and the plant flowers in mid to late summer. The flowers are small, with two 'lips', the upper lip much smaller than the lower. It is evergreen, with flowers appearing on 'loose' spikes. It may help to prune during the summer to promote branching and therefore strengthen the plant so these spikes will be able to stand unaided.

Not quite as hardy as some wild flowers, it is reported has bearing wonderful blooms and worth a little care. It likes full sun.
