False Fox Sedge
Carex Obtrubae
Carex is a well-known Latin definition of plants. This is an ornamental grass. It flowers between June and August with unusual 'spikes' that have the appearance of fruit/seeds poking out in all directions from a spear. The brown-green appearance of these 'flowers' can be very interesting with even subtle tones of yellow and pink upon close inspection. It has plentiful leaves and is a mid-green colour.
It likes wet places and can often be found in coastal areas.
