Tall Fescue
Fesuca Arundinacea
Fesuca derives from ancient Latin and refers to Straw or a grass 'stalk'. Arundinacea means reed-like. It may also be referred to as Tall Ryegrass.
As the name suggests, this plant can grow up to 6 feet in height. Certainly, expect it to reach around 3 to 4 feet. It 'flowers' in loose tufts of seeded clusters from June to August.
In the wild, it can be found in woodland, by the side of the road and in meadows. However, please note, horses and livestock should not consume it - so do not plant in areas where they are likely to roam. It may also inhibit the growth of other plants in the soil so it is best planted in a controlled situation.
