Caltha Palustris
Caltha refers to the 'cup' shape of the flowers. Palustris means that the plant is often found growing in marshland. It is also commonly known as Marsh Marigold.
This perennial grows approximately 18 inches in height. It is a hardy plant, with shiny foliage. This is an attractive plant. The leaves are mid-green and the flowers are a rich yellow (occasionally white blooms may appear). It blooms from mid spring and may continue until around mid summer.
It likes full sun and moist soil; do not let it dry out. It can do very well in a pond situation.
