Ox-Eye Daisy
Leucanthemum Vulgare
Leucanthemum means white flower. Vulgare means common and in commonly found. This plant has a
host of other references. It may be known as Field Daisy, Butter Daisy, Moon Daisy, Oxeye, Dun Daisy,
Goldens, White Daisy or White Oxeye, among others.
This perennial grows from 1 to 3 feet in height. The blooms hardly need describing, though are large on
this variety. The flowers have white-petals and yellow centres. This plants blooms repetitively from
springtime onwards into June. The leaves are small.
This plant requires sun to partial shade. It can be used as a cut flower.
In the wild, it can be found growing by the side of the road and in fields.
Medicinally, the plant has treated severe coughs and bronchial problems, asthma and calms nervous
disorders.
