Coriander
Coriandrum sativum
This plant grows up to 18 inches in height. It is an attractive plant often grown for its foliage though it has many culinary uses. The stalks stand tall and upright, with small feathery leaves. It flowers with small white flowers that turn to seed.
It likes sun and light rich soil. Pick leaves as required though they are especially good earlier in the season. Gather the seeds once they have changed colour from green to grey when they will be ripe. Dry out on paper and store in jars.
The leaves can be used in salads, vegetable dishes and other recipes including Indian cooking. The seeds can be used likewise but are also good in curries and bread recipes.
