There are many varieties of Thyme. All are usually fast spreading and fragrant. Common Thyme may also be know as English or Garden Thyme and grows in height to around 1ft. It blooms with white to mauve flowers. It likes full sun. It doesn't require a lot of attention.

Pick leaves as required up to and during flowering. The leaves can be used fresh or dried. Use in numerous dishes, soups, stews, and to flavour many poultry and pork dishes in particular.
